DIRECTOR OF GOLFMarty Keiter has been a PGA member for 32 years, and played an integral role at esteemed golf clubs on Kaua‘i, Moloka‘i and O‘ahu. Marty was at Maui’s Kapalua Resort for 22 years, where he was intimately involved in planning and building the Plantation Course, the golf academy, and played a key role in The Mercedes Championships. Marty is particularly proud of his work with junior golf programs in Hawai‘i throughout his career. When asked about his favorite thing at Kohanaiki, he says, “I get a lot of ‘wows’ on this course…a lot.”

AGRONOMY MANAGERJoey brings over 20 years of landscaping and agronomy experience to Kohanaiki. He has worked at golf courses in California and Hawai’i in every aspect of golf course maintenance and landscaping. A graduate of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Environmental Horticultural Science, he’s self-described “turf-nerd.” Joey has worked at Kohanaiki through construction, grow-in, and opening of the golf course, serving as Landscape Manager, Superintendent of Landscaping, Director of Landscape Installation and now, Agronomy Manager.
HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONALHead Golf Professional and PGA member, Patrick has been an asset to Kohanaiki’s Golf Team since 2012. Prior to returning to the Big Island, Patrick served as Head Golf Professional at Northern Pines Golf Club in Montana, Brookridge Golf & Country Club in Kansas City, and as Assistant Golf Professional at Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado. Patrick received most of his teaching experience at Maui’s Kapalua Resort, mentored by some of the country’s top 100 Golf Instructors, including Jerry King, Jim Flick and Mike Adams. During his tenure at the Kapalua Golf Academy, the Academy was named one of the “Top 25 Golf Schools in America” by Golf Magazine.
ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONALHunter Larson has been part of the Kohanaiki team since the property opened its doors in April 2013. Hunter, born and raised in Kona, brings a unique skill set and perspective to the golf operations of Kohanaiki. A degree in Hawaiian Language helps Hunter tie the surroundings and history of Kohanaiki to its world-class golf and amenities. As a top-level amateur player, he enjoyed a successful playing career. Hunter also enjoyed a brief Professional playing career, earning a spot in the Final Stage of the 2012 Asian Tour Qualifying Tournament. Before his return to Kona, Hunter was Assistant Golf Professional at Ko`olau Golf Club in Kāne`ohe.
ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONALRyan is a lifelong golfer who has turned his passion for the game into a profession. Raised in Hilo, he was part of the area’s Junior Golf program through high school and earned a golf scholarship to Purdue University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Management. His golf career has taken him from CordeValle, where he worked from 2005 to 2014, back to the Big Island where he joined Kohanaiki as an assistant golf professional. Born and raised in Arizona, Chris has spent the bulk of his life around golf. At age 16, Chris began his career in the business of golf working as an assistant for his dad, a PGA professional. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Management at Northern Arizona University and before finding his way to the Big Island, worked as an assistant golf professional at Forest Highlands and Torreon in northern Arizona. When not golfing, Chris enjoys basketball, tennis, bowling and of course, the ocean.
